Looking for Opportunity

Economic Trends:
I found this article while researching the Samuel Adams Brewery. I was curious how a company like Samuel Adams was able to stay in the craft brewing industry since 1984 and still be in control of the craft beer market. Craft brewing has been on the rise since the 2010 and with new breweries opening across the United States at staggering numbers it is clear that there is an interest. The consumer is most likely college to middle aged men who want a beer with more flavor than the watered down mass produced products. Unfortunately, the market is difficult to get into with massive overhead and the necessity of constant creativity of new beers. I was able to find this opportunity because of my love for the craft beer industry. I have also done a lot of prior investigating in my own time to find how feasible it is to start a craft brewery.

I found this opportunity while stumbling upon green walkways being implemented in major cities. With the environmental changes and people trying to combat them with new technology, there is a need for building eco-friendly cities. Eco-friendly building help cut down on factors influencing global warming while also cutting down on costs for businesses. There is a demand for construction of these buildings and equipment and there is opportunity to jump into this field. The customer would likely be local government wanting to implement green-tech or a family wanting to go green. The field is difficult to get into with licenses, knowledge of the job and money for starting up. I was able to find this opportunity because I care about the environment and I think increasing green-tech will help the community as well as the environment.

Regulatory Changes:
With the rise of internet there has been a rise of additional security. There is a lot of information about you on the internet and new law are being enacted to protect your rights. I found this article while looking up about security on the internet. An opportunity to give proper internet security at an affordable cost would help many people from the internet. A lot of people use the internet without protection, but many people would be interested in an affordable security. If you or an employee is well versed in computers, this will make this venture more viable. I have had multiple family member had their identities stolen on the internet and this helped spark the idea to help everyone from this problem.

Additional laws making retirement plans is becoming more prevalent in the workplace. I stumbled up this article while looking up new regulations coming into effect for businesses. I believe that there is an opportunity for helping companies set up a retirement plan for their workers. This will directly help employers, but also help the employees. I believe that once you understand the basics of the business, the job will not be extremely difficult. This reached out to me because I will soon be entering the work force and having security for the future is very important for success.

  1. Hey William! Thanks for sharing.

As someone who does not drink beer, I would have never noticed the opportunity in the craft beer industry like you did. If someone had the resources available, they could definitely exploit this opportunity and enter the market.

I loved reading the article about green cities. I think there has been a shift towards environmentally conscious living that will only grow greater in the future. This means that companies that cater to going green have potential to have huge profits.

I didn't think of the opportunity in internet security- but it is definitely there. The internet is not going anywhere, and while this opportunity may not be the easiest to exploit, there is potential.

  2. Hey William,

I enjoyed reading your articles. The first one dealing with craft beer was intriguing. I am not a big fan of alcohol but lately it has caught my attention about the growing interest of craft beer here in the states. It seems that Americans want to have an American beer that is comparable to the craft beers of other countries. One not watered down too much as you put it. The second article dealing with green walkaways was something I have not heard of. This seems like a good way to start implementing new eco friendly technologies. The third article dealing with internet security is very important. In this age of technology much of people’s information is readily available on the internet. This can be harmful in the hands of malicious users. The final article on retirement plan seems interesting. I’m not too informed on this subject but I do feel that with the implementation if retirement plans, workers will have mire incentive to do a better job. Nice job, if you want check my blog out at http://jpmorgan15.blogspot.com/2016/05/looking-for-opportunity.html

  3. Hi William,

I enjoyed all of your articles! It's pretty interesting how Sam Adams is still around and so popular. It definitely isn't my preferred drink, but some of their seasonal flavors aren't too bad. Internet security is definitely very important. Just today one of the partners at an accounting firm I am currently interning at told me about how last year the firm's file keeping system got hacked by a foreign entity, and the foreign entity tried to hold their files for ransom. They ended up just backing up the files through another system, but it's still crazy to think about how big of a deal internet security can be for everyone!
