Draw conclusions.
I learned about some pretty important things from my interviews. I learned that a lot of people go to friends and occasionally yelp to find out information about products. So being there for the 20% of my main customers and keeping a good online appearance will be crucial. By getting customers and then building relations with those customers, they will tell their friends and family and word will spread of my product. This segment in the market is focused more on word of mouth for picking out a product. The people interviewed seemed interested in the product and if good word of mouth were to spread about the kegerator I am sure it would sell very well in a college town.

  1. Hi William,

I think word-of-mouth is the biggest and most impactful spreader of information, especially in a college town like Gainesville. Friends communicate a lot, especially young college kids via face-to-face, texting, social media, and online pictures. Friends would see the Kegerator at a party and discuss it. Word of mouth spreads like wild fire and it would catch on quick.

  2. Hi William,

I think with your target market, word of mouth is incredibly important. The age group you defined in your idea napkin post was in the age group of 21 and older but still young. This group of people tend to rely on each other for recommendations and don't just look at the name of things to buy it. They will look at reviews and make sure that things work well. Good luck!

  3. Hi Will,
I am very big on reading reviews and getting peoples opinions on things before I purchase something. I think that word of mouth is very important. I think that if your friends tell you how great something is the more likely you are to get it. I would ask my customers to leave reviews on things like yelp or your kegerator website if there is one. People want to feel confident when buying something new.

  4. Hey Will,
Great job identifying what kind of marketing tactics would be best for your company. More often than not, that is one of the most difficult parts of determining an advertising budget and what not. However, word of mouth is the cheapest and sometimes the most effective! This is usually due to the fact that you have faith in people telling you something. Or, you can see them wearing something or using something so they have first hand knowledge. Overall, great job getting all your info in the interviews!

  5. William,
I think that focusing more on work of mouth is a very good idea. I, personally, would trust what one of my friends says over what a sign or commercial says every time. That’s because a lot of companies lie with their advertising. I think that spreading your name through word of mouth is one of the best ways for a company to gain name recognition.

  6. William,

Word of mouth in this industry is crucial to grow the business so it's great you're attacking that first. I also think customer loyalty is fuel for customers to tell their friends about a product. I think you've done a good job with your market segmentation and thanks for sharing!

  7. Hey William,

Your idea on the kegerator seems like a good product to advertise and sell here in Gainesville as their are many college students. Im wondering how you will accomplish the goal of advertising your product solely on word. I think you should invest more thought in to using the internet because in my opinion mire than 20% of your customer will use online resources on looking up products. I amy be wrong though. Anyways nice job! check out my blog at http://jpmorgan15.blogspot.com/.

  8. Hi William,

I liked your interviews and questions! I am going to be honest though, I hate Yelp. I have never used Yelp and been satisfied with the result. I had to get that off my chest, but yeah it definitely makes sense that most people get their information from online. It's just so easy to do a quick google search and find out anything you could want to know. Word of mouth can definitely be vital too though because people respect their friends and family's recommendations. Here is my blog: http://jaredpape.blogspot.com/
